Amanyara Turks and Caicos has reopened after a seasonal closure, unveiling a complete refurbishment of its communal spaces and select private villas, reinvigorating the lush, secluded oasis. From the dramatic welcome of the entrance pavilion to new culinary offerings and more ways to enjoy the stunning ocean views, no detail has been overlooked.

Set on the shores of a 7,200-hectare nature reserve on the island of Providenciales, Amanyara reopens this season reinvigorated by its collaboration with Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects.

Amanyara includes 20 Villas tucked along the coast or situated slightly inland overlooking tranquil ponds, affording maximum space and the utmost seclusion and privacy, coupled with access to the resort’s luxurious amenities. All include a dedicated host, and the three- to six-bedroom villas come with the services of a private chef.

Fantastic first impressions

The resort’s newly refreshed Entrance Pavilion has been transformed by renowned landscape architect, Raymond Jungles. To make the most impactful first impression, Jungles elevated the Entrance Pavilion, with large mahogany trees now framing the picturesque views across the central tranquility pond. Wooden backgammon and chess boards add opportunities for playful relaxation, amidst an open-plan layout reconfigured to allow for enhanced privacy and a restful atmosphere.

From the pavilion, a new path draws visitors in to the kitchen and a shaded, casual dining area. A full interior renovation in the main restaurant includes eye-catching art pieces and bespoke lighting design by international designer, The Flaming Beacon. New furniture completes the warm and welcoming ambience.

Culinary delights

Guests of all tastes will welcome the reinvigorated gastronomy concepts that offer the chance to enjoy the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean alongside an array of other cuisines.

For those seeking a more casual dining experience down on the sand, the Beach Club has been upgraded, with multi-level decking shaded by new pergolas designed to maximize the panoramic views over the breathtaking natural scenery and turquoise waters. An expert mixologist is on hand to create traditional and bespoke cocktails using local and rare spirits, including the resort’s own barrel-aged selection. A new drinks menu, with after-dinner cocktails and specially crafted Amanyara aperitifs, provides the perfect evening delight.

Eager to serve guests, no matter their needs, Amanyara will cater to all dietary and lifestyle preferences, with the resort’s kitchens upgraded to incorporate a specially designed and dedicated space for preparing Kosher cuisine, using the freshest ingredients and produce, giving all guests the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of culinary delights.

Private villas

Elsewhere, three of the resort’s luxury private Villas have undergone renovations. Located amidst the resort’s verdant gardens and serene ponds, the spacious, multi-bedroom villas offer seclusion in serene natural surroundings, with new facilities and outdoor living spaces perfect for lounging.

Nestled on a private lakefront position and offering the upmost privacy, Villa 14 has been fully refurbished, with the addition of a private pathway leading guests directly to a new yoga pavilion and an exclusively designed water feature flowing into the private tranquility pond.

The four-bedroom Villa 8 has been completely refurbished inside and out, taking inspiration from the distinct natural beauty of the lush, surrounding landscapes. The space includes high ceilings, wood paneling, and a curated collection of contemporary, eclectic, and textured furniture indoors and an expansive outdoor terrace space complete with infinity-edge swimming pool, large Jacuzzi, and fire pit. The meticulous lighting design imbues the architecture with a gentle and inviting warm glow.

Among Amanyara’s largest residences, the Artists Villa is perched on its very own stretch of white sand beach, with a five-bedroom villa situated among three acres of lush private gardens, with a 108-foot infinity swimming pool directly overlooking the sea. Complementing the expansive sundecks, multiple outdoor dining areas, and recording studio are a new private world-class wellness and fitness area, an expansive steam room, and a cold plunge pool, encouraging guests to feel refreshed and renewed during their stay and beyond.

The Strand Turks & Caicos, a private residential community located on 2,230 feet of pristine shore frontage on Cooper Jack Bay, announces the completion of four 5,404-square-foot luxury residences, which feature an open-air indoor-outdoor layout with five ocean-facing bedrooms, two spectacular pools and a spa, lush courtyard with outdoor kitchen, and a grotto beach. The first homeowners were welcomed in October 2023 and the other three homeowners moved into The Strand this month.

With more than 50% of inventory sold on its limited collection of 41 villas and residences, the highly anticipated luxury resort community is introducing a new home design based on buyer demand, the four-bedroom Signature Residences.

Following a successful pre-opening campaign surpassing $100 million in residential sales, The Strand is on track for a fall 2024 debut. Prior to the grand opening, homeowners and guests will have access to a la carte club services, including butler service, housekeeping, pre-arrival shopping, private chef services, and catering, while enjoying spacious, contemporary villas on an unspoiled stretch of coastline on a protected Cooper Jack Bay.

“The delivery of the first four completed Luxury Residences marks a major milestone for this Turks and Caicos real estate development,” says John Fair, managing director of The Strand. “We set out to create a place that feels like a home away from home with intimate, private residences complemented by social gathering spaces and resort amenities. It’s been incredible watching our vision come to life over the past year, and we’re excited to see The Strand in action with owners and guests enjoying the community this summer.”

The newly introduced Signature Residences, starting at $6.5 million, include four, single-family homes with four bedrooms, a fifth bedroom/flex space, bonus office/media room, courtyard with an outdoor kitchen, and spectacular terrace overlooking a private infinity pool. With a double primary bedroom layout, Signature Residences are ideal for two families or multi generational family living.

Additional homes are available at The Strand, ranging from two to six bedrooms, including two-bedroom villas starting at $2.525 million, three-bedroom villas starting at $3.3 million and Grand Residences starting at $10.5 million. Lastly, there are two remaining Beachfront Estates, starting at $11.35 million, that offer a rare ownership opportunity with more than 100 feet of coastline to the front and a private yacht slip in the rear of the home.

For what will be one of the Caribbean’s most sustainable developments to-date, eco-friendly design elements are a major emphasis throughout the homes and community and roughly 75% of power will be run from solar. Each residence features solar integration from local-leader Renu Energy TCI utilizing Tesla Powerwalls and smart home technology integration from Intelity. Additional features include flow-through ventilation, low heat conductivity for building materials, and smart landscape irrigation systems. The Strand is also designated as the first “pollinator sanctuary” in the Caribbean.

As a residential resort, The Strand is the first of its kind on the island, offering owners and guests full resort-style services and programming in a relaxed coastal setting. New community amenities include the announcement of a spa with elegant outdoor relaxation areas in a lush garden setting, as well as saunas. The Beach and Racquet Club will serve as the social hub of the community, anchored by a resort-style swimming pool surrounded by native limestone and towering palms. The Club will feature two pickleball courts, a tennis court, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with yoga deck and scheduled fitness classes.

The Strand’s Main Pool (Rendering)

With access to the top sport fishing and diving spots on Turks and Caicos, The Strand’s pristine location makes it ideal for swimming, paddle boarding, and various other water sports for active spirits. Water amenities include an accessible beach, 1,400 feet of canal and marina frontage, offering boat slips for owners and access to The Strand’s own Club Boat with a private captain, catamarans, kayaks, paddleboards, and more. The beach itself is one of the best fishing spots in Providenciales and Cooper Jack Bay is known for its crystal-clear water that doesn’t get over five feet deep. The kids’ club will take advantage of the water, beach, and nature as well, providing daily activities and supervision for children of owners and guests. A two-bedroom apartment will be home to the Club’s Artist-in-Residence Program with thoughtful cultural activities available year-round.

The Strand Entry and Marina (Rendering)

An upscale Mykonos-inspired restaurant and bar in the Beach Club will feature an outdoor dining terrace and a kitchen buried into the hillside under a lush green roof. The restaurant will source fresh catches from local fisherman and vegetables, herbs, and fruits from an on-site garden.

With rich airlift and tax benefits, Turks and Caicos is an ideal choice for those seeking a second home island paradise. Remote yet easily accessible, The Strand is located a short five-minute drive from the Leeward Highway, the main east-west thoroughfare through the island. Cooper Jack Bay is just ten minutes from the Providenciales International Airport and 15 minutes to the world-famous Grace Bay Beaches and shopping area.

Visitors and owners at the first-of-its-kind, 31-acre South Bank Resort and Marina community on Long Bay in Turks and Caicos will be able to enjoy the sun, sea, and luxurious amenities sooner than expected. In under five years, South Bank – which is home to the island’s first ever man-made beach lagoon and Lagoon islands – has quickly taken shape with four neighborhoods either nearing completion or outpacing its expected development milestone.

In total, the four distinct South Bank areas will have 92 residences. The Lagoon, made up of 18 villas – each with gardens, pools, docks, and direct access to the lagoon beach – has already sold out, as have the 19 villas of the Ocean Estate, set along the striking Long Bay beach and iron shore.

At The Launch, a 38-boathouse, village-style community located on the marina waterfront, only two homes remain available. Arc, South Bank’s six-story, low-density residential building, has only nine of its 17 Sky Villas still on the market, with a starting price of $3 million.

“Arc at South Bank is leading sales on Providenciales as we see a thriving demand for condominium luxury residential offerings,” said Ingo Reckhorn, director of Windward.

Arc will be the first completed project in the Caribbean designed by world-renowned Italian architect, Piero Lissoni. The Sky Villas at Arc create indoor/outdoor vertical villa-like living, with expansive outdoor spaces including outdoor kitchens, showers, pools, gardens, living and dining spaces on all levels. Buyers at Arc will have access to the resort services and amenities at South Bank, including on-demand butler and private chef service; the swimming lagoon with lounging islands in its center; two gyms and a spa; a fully serviced marina and boat concierge; two signature restaurants and bars as well as direct access to the serene Long Bay Beach.

The nine remaining Sky Villas vary from 3,280-square-foot, two-bedroom residences to the one-of-a-kind 12,540-square-foot penthouse that comes equipped with its own super-yacht slip. All residences feature north and south-facing water views thanks to Arc’s unique position on the ocean, Juba Sound and the South Bank inlet. The residences range from two to five bedrooms, and each features a unique layout, dedicated underground parking, dedicated elevator access for select units and bespoke finishes by Lissoni.

Once Arc is completed in 2026, buyers will enjoy inclusion in South Bank’s exclusive rental and management program by Grace Bay Resorts.

The property is a project of Windward, the developer of some of the finest, exclusive, residential waterfront estates and communities in Turks and Caicos. Windward projects stand out for their Caribbean contemporary design, impeccable quality in execution standards, and environmental and ethical integrity.

Following the success of the Amanyara Legends program launched earlier this year, the Turks & Caicos resort welcomes a collaboration with NFL football greats Demarcus Lawrence, a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, and Xavien Howard, a cornerback for the Miami Dolphins, who will hold football clinics for resort guests on June 25 and 26.

The Legends program provides Amanyara guests with exclusive access to icons in the world of sports through a series of clinics held throughout the year. Tennis great Maria Sharapova and doubles champions the Bryan brothers as well as basketball player Kevin Love have held multi-day clinics earlier this year.

“We are delighted to welcome these two NFL superstars to Amanyara,” says Ian White, general manager. “These residencies continue to elevate the one-of-a-kind experiences at the resort and our guests really enjoy these special opportunities to play with sports legends who they might only see from afar at a game.”

Demarcus and Xavien, both two-time Pro Bowlers and All Pros, will be in residence over two days for adult football clinics. Children can attend the pre-game refreshments and guests can spend some downtime with the professionals at cocktails and dinner the final evening. All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Edward C. Garland Youth Centre, a local nonprofit organization.

“We are excited that Demarcus and Xavien will be part of the Amanyara Legends program,” says David Canter, president and CEO of DEC Management, representatives for the players. “They are both fun, engaging guys who will make the football clinics a really great experience for the guests.”

Rates for the 90-minute sessions (pre-game refreshments plus 75 minute clinics) are $375 per person and the special dinner with the players is $600 per person.

Demarcus Lawrence, defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, is a two-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro. Demarcus’ play on the field combined with his aggressive passion to help others off the field led him to becoming the highest paid Dallas Cowboy in NFL history in April 2019. Demarcus gives back to the community through many events helping kids, first responders, and, in previous years, through football camps in his hometown of Aiken, South Carolina.

Xavien Howard is a cornerback for the Miami Dolphins. A two-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler, Xavien was the NFL Leader in interceptions twice in his career, as recently as this year, where he had 10 interceptions, which was the most in a season since 2007. Xavien was a finalist for the NFL Defensive Player of the year this past season. Xavien doesn’t forget where he came from and enjoys holding events that encourage kids to live out their dreams and to never stop working hard to accomplish their goals.

Located on a pristine stretch of a private white sand beach in Turks & Caicos, Amanyara offers a tranquil and rejuvenating getaway for travellers searching for seclusion and access to the great outdoors and nearby marine life. Removed from the rest of the world, Amanyara is set on the shores of an 18,000 acre nature reserve complete with newly refurbished standalone pavilions that embrace indoor-outdoor living, each with a terrace and wooden sundeck surrounded by coastal vegetation.

Amanyara’s abundance of space makes it an ideal location for sports and recreation with guests able to take advantage of outdoor tennis courts, a full size soccer field, and a professional boxing studio, as well as wellness activities.

Amanyara offers Covid testing on property for travelers to meet the requisite travel requirements for return back to the US.

Set on the shores of an 18,000-acre nature reserve on the island of Providenciales, Amanyara Turks & Caicos welcomes a new partnership with the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science) in Miami for the launch of the resort’s new youth activity program, Science Explorers and Environmental Keepers (SEEK).

Its first such collaboration with a resort, Frost Science will launch eight camps at Amanyara in 2021, with programming targeted to children (ages 5-10) as well as pre-teens and teens (ages 11-14).

SEEK camps will focus on three primary themes: Coastal Conservation, Reef Rescue and Sun, Moon and Stars, with hands-on science activities and “out in the environment” guided experiences, such as kayaking and snorkelling led by Frost Science Educators.

“We are delighted to be working with Frost Science for our new youth programming,” said Ian White, general manager of Amanyara. “SEEK will elevate our already strong family experiences at Amanyara, which include soccer and tennis camps, water sports, outdoor wellness activities, and more. With the new SEEK camps, we hope to cultivate enthusiasm for the environment and passion for conservation amongst the next generation as they learn to take care of our planet.”

SEEK Program Themes:

Coastal Conservation: This theme will take a deeper look into the mangroves, sand dunes, and marine life that call coastlines home. Young explorers will learn about key conservation efforts and ways in which to help make a change. Activities will include kayaking or hiking through the mangroves, building a coastline model, mangrove nursery scavenger hunt, and a microscopic look at sand and plants.

Reef Rescue: The pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marina National Park are some of the region’s most diverse—a vibrant underwater wonderland running parallel to Amanyara’s secluded beach. Children will dive into the science of corals and other marine life located right off Amanyara, including turtles, rays, and fish. Activities will include snorkelling or kayaking, building a coral reef, and developing a unique “Save the Reef” campaign that celebrates biodiversity.

Sun, Moon, and Stars: Young guests at Amanyara need only look upward to the starlit skies to witness the beauty of the cosmos. Frost Science Educators will explain the interesting properties of the sun and moon before launching into the science of the stars. Children will learn how we can use light to search for life on other planets as well as hear fascinating stories about the constellations. Activities will include night-time stargazing, constellation mapping, spectroscopy and creating moon models.

The themed SEEK camps will be offered during the following periods with a flexible daily drop-in atmosphere. The daily rate per child is $95*.

  • February 11 – 15: Sun, Moon, and Stars
  • March 18 – April 3: Coastal Conservation and Sun, Moon and Stars
  • May 27 – 31: Reef Rescue
  • July 1 – 5: Reef Rescue
  • August 1 – 15: Coastal Conservation and Reef Rescue
  • November 24 – 28: Sun, Moon, and Stars

In addition to participation in the programs, young guests will take home keepsakes, such as a tote bag and reusable water bottle, of their experiences at Amanyara as well as complimentary tickets to visit Frost Science in Miami. Parents booking a trip to Amanyara and a SEEK camp to celebrate a child’s birthday will also receive a celebratory birthday surprise gift box in advance of their stay.

For guests who want a more personalized experience for their families, Amanyara can offer a bespoke private camp experience at the resort throughout the year with advance reservations. Ideal for families, Amanyara’s newly renovated, standalone pavilions and multi-bedroom villas feature large pools and personalized services as well as an abundance of space and privacy.

*Dates and themes are subject to change.

If you’re looking to get away in the coming months, your first priority is likely safety. While all hotels have changed how they do business to adjust to these crazy times, some resorts have gone above and beyond to ensure guest safety.

Below are three of our favorite Caribbean resorts, the safety measures they’re taking, and the memorable guest experiences they’re offering. Consider relaxing and recharging at one of these top tier hotels.

Amanyara

Turks & Caicos

Located on a secluded nature reserve in Turks & Caicos, Amanyara, meaning ‘peaceful place,’ is a quiet haven, surrounded by turquoise waters and white sand beaches. All rooms and three- to six-bedroom villas are standalone, allowing guests to isolate from others while still enjoying the resort in its full capacity. Villas afford their own private infinity pools and decks, and many overlook reflective ponds or ocean views.

Guests can experience a secluded wellness getaway fully customized to their preferences, perfect for those looking to spend their entire Amanyara vacation in the privacy of their own villa to truly stay socially distanced from others. Villa guests can even coordinate with the chef and the wellness team to tailor their 100% in-villa getaway, complete with private spa and dining services.

When possible, rooms aren’t booked back to back to allow the hotel to thoroughly clean and air out rooms in between guests. Guests can also opt out of daily linen changing and turn down service. Staff will wear masks when serving guests. Perhaps Amanyara’s biggest strength in these times is its size—the resort is a largely open-air experience, set over many acres, allowing guests to keep proper distance from each other naturally.

Their nature programming is also particularly alluring during these challenging times. Nature experiences at the beautiful property include scuba diving, watersports activities like kayaking and paddleboarding, and guided nature walks.

Amanera

Dominican Republic

Another Caribbean resort under the luxury Aman umbrella, Amanera, capitalizes on its generous property size and 25 private casitas to distance its guests organically. The resort stretches over seven miles of Atlantic seacoast and 2,000 acres of lush forest, in which guests can enjoy a guided nature hike through expanses of protected jungle brimming with tropical flora and fauna.

Housekeeping will sanitize all casitas daily focusing on airing out rooms and disinfecting high-touch areas, or guest can use their own sanitizing kit if preferred. All public areas will be sanitized regularly, and private dining is available.

Their out-of-this-world wellness experiences focus on the moon’s cycle and its healing properties. In the “Healing Through Lunar Forces” program, guests will become attuned to the physical and emotional healing of the moon through sunrise yoga and meditation, nature walks, and healthy cooking classes. A visit during the new moon, which promotes renewal, will see a Palo Santo smudging ceremony and a deep tissue massage, while a visit during the waxing moon, which instilla energy, will include a full body coffee exfoliation.

Amanera is also harnessing the healing power of nature with the new ‘Holistic Immune Support Retreat,’ which includes herbal medicinal remedies, yoga, meditation, a workout, a tailored menu with local ingredients, a balancing facial, and other immune-boosting spa treatments.

Hilton Aruba

Aruba

The Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino has rolled out rigorous cleaning standards everywhere in the hotel, from arrival to departure. Guests can choose a completely contactless check-in with the free Hilton Honors mobile app. The hotel has ramped up sanitation protocols, making sure guest rooms, pool areas, fitness centers, and other public areas are sanitized frequently, with physical distancing measures also in place.

However, the most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID is to avoid contact with other people, as the CDC reports that the virus is mainly thought to spread directly from person to person. For this reason, Hilton Aruba offers a new Sunset Concierge service, allowing guests a scenic private dining experience right at sunset. Guests can even opt for a sunset car or kayak ride, too, and a concierge will work to pull of their entire evening without a hitch.

A luxurious spin on a sign of the times, the Eforea Spa has introduced an aloe handwashing ritual at the beginning of any spa treatment, which consists of Aruba Aloe soap, Aloe hand scrub, hand sanitizer, and lotion.
